Tuesday

Tuesday I only had one class from 12-2. It was my information systems class. We started getting into groups and so far my group consists of only two other people so we will probably have to join another group next class. We had to go around the room and talk about our homework exercise. Everyone had such good answers but I was lost so when it was my turn I just told him that I had never had a class about info systems before. He told me I could have just said I agreed with what everyone else had already said, haha. Then he told me that it was a big day in America and I shouldn’t even be in class. I am only one of two people from the US in that class.

UCD held a reception for the US students during the inauguration so we could all watch it. The party started at 4:30pm and it was at the Student Center. They had red, white, and blue balloons all over and an American Flag hung up and a giant screen with the live news from Washington. We had to check in (they had a list of the students who were invited) and they gave us drink vouchers. Soda and water was unlimited and we each got two (Budweiser) beers. It was so funny! I made sure to take some extra waters and diet cokes on my way out.

All the people from Quinn that we had met at our orientation were there along with various other faculty and the local news. Apparently we were on the 9pm news here! They tried to interview me but I kindly said no, I had no idea what to say! They brought out food for us too. Little sandwiches, chicken tenders, spring rolls, onion rings, it was quite the assortment. I was happy they put that together because otherwise I probably wouldn’t have found a tv or place to watch it.
